Helen has been lending her expertise to LESA since the 1990s, and she's volunteered on 3 different fronts: helping prepare our practice manuals, speaking at our seminars, and helping in our CPLED face-to-face modules.
As Helen says, "you give a lot and you gain a lot" by being a volunteer.

Helen Ward and Michael Klaray both spoke and co-presented a paper at the 2015 Lake Louise Wills & Estates Refresher that was held April 19 to 21, 2015, at the Chateau Lake Louise in Banff National Park. The paper is on costs, and also how to bring various applications under the Wills and Succession Act of Alberta, and the Surrogate Rules.
The Refresher is an annual program of the Legal Education Society of Alberta for the benefit of lawyers in a concentrated area of the law. The law of Wills and Estates is featured about every four years.

Helen began her career as an articling student at Duncan Craig LLP in 1988. She has been running ever since! Helen is now a partner in the Estates Solutions Practice Group in the Edmonton office, and co-chair of the practice group. Helen's practice includes litigation arising from wills, estate related claims, mental capacity issues and dependants relief issues.
