Jay articled at Duncan & Craig LLP and was admitted to the bar in 1984. After working for three years in an in-house position, Jay rejoined the firm in 1987 and became a Partner in 1993. He has worked in a number of areas of Litigation over the years including personal injury and fatal accidents (motor vehicle, slip and fall and others), product liability, general insurance and disability and life insurance and Litigation involving hidden defects in homes. Jay has also developed a special interest in agricultural related Litigation including personal injury, insurance and crop loss claims.
Jay is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association and has extensive trial and Appellate experience. He has been involved in settling a number of large personal injury and product liability cases including structured settlements. He presently sits on the Board of Directors of the Lawyers Assist Program and actively works helping lawyers in crisis.
Cases of interest include motorcycle accident fires, snowmobile and other recreational vehicle accidents and accidents involving defective tools and other products. Jay was involved in a case involving a death that resulted from a tractor rollover and ultimately was successful in challenging the exclusion in the Alberta Court of Appeal. Jay has recently been involved in representative and class action cases.
