Darren is the leader of our Insolvency and Restructuring practice and also handles complex corporate and commercial litigation matters including shareholder disputes, complex creditor remedies, priority issues and construction litigation. Darren also serves on the firm’s management committee as co-chair of the business portfolio. He is passionate about solving his clients most difficult and complex problems in as practical and efficient manner as possible and as a result has been recognized by his peers, having been selected by them to be included in the publication, Canada’s Best Lawyers, for 2008 and 2009 in the area of Insolvency and Restructuring.
Darren has appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta, and has also appeared before the Federal Court of Canada.
Darren has prepared a number of papers for LESA and most recently co-chaired a panel on Insolvency law. He has also prepared and presented papers to sections of the CBA, has been a lecturer for the bar admission course and has presented to seminars for the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Practitioners.
Called to the Alberta bar in 1990, Darren joined the firm in 2001 after practicing with the Edmonton office of a well known national firm.
Darren is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, the Edmonton Bar Association, the Turnaround Management Association, the Canadian Finance and Lease Association and the International Who’s Who of Professionals.
Darren is also passionate about community involvement. He has been a soccer coach and is actively involved in politics.
